The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is looking to rebrand the entire minivan series, albeit in an ambitious attempt to bring new life into a series that is losing heavily to crossover SUVs. Their aim is to achieve this by redesigning the entire minivan concept and pack it full of technology so young people might think it’s cool to drive one of these. Perhaps people at Chrysler feel somewhat responsible for their legacy, as one of the concepts they pioneered in the early ’90s is losing its appeal, assuming it had one. Still, the new Pacifica still has its work cut out: on the one side, it needs to be safe and versatile in order to qualify as a minivan, and on the other, it needs to be classy and cool so people don’t feel ashamed of driving one.
2017 Chrysler Pacifica Release Date
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is scheduled for launch by the end of 2016.
The base model should go for about $30,000 – although, it does come with a plethora of optional equipment which can only mean one thing: extra costs.
On the outside, Chrysler designers really had a tough job; minivans are not very attractive, or popular, so as far as visual appeal goes, the new Pacifica has actually improved – a lot. Built in accordance with modern trends, the body is actually appealing. The front fascia features a new grille, rich with chrome and empowered by a set of projector beam headlights, giving the Pacifica a much tougher vibe. There are 10 different color schemes to choose from, although one of them is exclusive to the hybrid version. This and the new daytime running lights that were redesigned for visual impact have given the vehicle an entirely new appearance.
Chrysler Pacifica 2017 Interior
As for the interior, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica looks nothing like a minivan, and this is definitely a good thing. In fact, comfortable interior and classy materials have always played second fiddle to safety and cargo space, at least for minivans. They are still important and given the due attention, but the new Uconnect infotainment system with the 8.4-inch touchscreen is something else entirely. As stated, cabin space has not been neglected, and the new Pacifica feels as roomy as ever, while the new Stow ‘n Go seats are both comfortable and easy to fold for extra cargo space. This is one of the main reasons people buy minivans – their sheer versatility. Chrysler may be gunning for new customer base, but that does not mean they have forgotten who their real clients are.
2017 Chrysler Pacifica Specs
Under the hood of 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, there is one of two engines. It is either a 3.6 L Pentastar V-6 with 287 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, or the hybrid. Either way, they are quite fuel-efficient for their class, and they are both paired up with a nine-speed automatic transmission. So far, only the front-wheel drive configuration has been confirmed, although this is expected to change in the near future, when an all-wheel drive model makes an appearance.
