It may be hard to believe, but the 2017 Jeep Compass is actually a compact crossover SUV, and unlike most U.S. vehicles as of late, the series has been doing pretty well for itself. Although, even that trend seemed to have reached its peak, so in order to correct that, Chrysler executives have decided to apply some changes and introduce additional trims, and some of those changes carried over to this model as well. As you might expect, the 2017 Jeep Compass will come in five different trims and feature loads of additional equipment for those who can afford it.
2017 Jeep Compass Release Date
This 2017 Jeep Compass is probably going to reach showrooms by late 2016.
The price, however, is going to be tricky to pin down at this point, as there are various trims and loads of new equipment to be taken into account. In any case, the base version should not be more expensive than the previous model, so we are looking at a $20,000 price tag, give or take a few thousands. The top tier, however, should reach $27,000 or more, although this should not be a significant obstacle to a true Jeep enthusiast.
The 2017 Jeep Compass will not be that different from its predecessor, at least not on the outside. The laminate windows have proven effective at reducing outside noise, so they are making a comeback. The headlights are stronger than that on your average SUV, so the new Compass features a pair of redesigned rectangular bi-xenon projector headlights with halogen lights and turn indicators. The grille features some new chrome elements as well as a dark background to make them stand out even more. The new dimensions have proven to be a success, as have the new materials, so despite its increase in size, the new Compass weighs less, which helps with the handling, stability and fuel consumption. Finally, there are optional 18-inch wheels instead of the 16-inch stock version.
Interior of new Jeep Compass
On the inside, we can look forward to a number of options including saddle brown leather for the seats. Otherwise, old-school vinyl upholstery is a nice touch (especially if cloth is not your thing), as is the updated instrument panel. Since this is a compact crossover SUV, it can only take five people, but there is plenty of indoor space for each one of them, unless you need some extra storage space, in which case all you need is to fold the seats and make room for whatever cargo you need hauled. Other than that, features are pretty straightforward – a new infotainment system, USB ports, air conditioning, optional navigation system and Bluetooth.
2017 Jeep Compass Specs
As for the powertrain, the 2017 Jeep Compass will most likely feature a 2.0 L 4-cylinder engine with 158 hp and 141 lb-ft of torque. Another option is a slightly stronger 2.4 L with 176 ponies and 165 pound-feet of torque. Either way, they will feature either the CVT or 6-speed automatic transmission. Unfortunately, these are the best estimates, as the official data on this matter has yet to be confirmed.
